Previous to this he was an ENT Consultant at the University of Berlin, Germany. During this training he studied at: University of Heidelberg, Germany; NYU, New York, USA; University of Sydney, Australia and University of Zurich, Switzerland. He completed his higher surgical training at the University of Heidelberg and University of Berlin, Germany. He received the German Board Certification as Specialist in Otorhinolaryngology, Head and Neck Surgery (UK CCT equivalent) in 2011, and the German Board Certification for Sub-specialisation in Facial Aesthetic and Reconstructive Surgery in 2015. He undertook the highly prestigious craniofacial and facial-plastic fellowship for 18-months at Chelsea and Westminster Hospital, London. His main focus is functional and aesthetic rhinoplasty, as well as revision rhinoplasty and facial plastic surgery, which includes eyelid surgery and chin augmentation. He medically and surgically treats all aspects of other sinu-nasal conditions such as chronic rhinosinusitis, with methods such as endoscopic sinus surgery and balloon sinuplasty. He also provides surgery for patients with snoring problems and obstructive sleep apnoea. He has extensive experience in the use of Botulinum Toxin (Botox) and Dermal Fillers (he is the founder and Director of ‘The Aesthetic and Functional Use of Botulinum Toxin Course for Doctors’ in Berlin, Germany, which is held twice a year), and is one of the most experienced surgeons in the UK in performing endoscopic balloon dilatation of the Eustachian Tube. He is registered with the General Medical Council as a specialist for Otolaryngology, and is a member in the following professional medical specialist societies: Royal College of Surgeons of England, the Rhinoplasty Society of Europe, the European Academy of Facial Plastic Surgery, ENT UK, FPS UK, the German ENT Society, and the German Society for Aesthetic use of Botulinum Toxin. As part of his academic work, he lectures at national and international conferences (including the European Rhinology Society Scientific Meeting, BACO International), and has published extensively in his field of expertise. He is also an editorial reviewer of major scientific papers in the field of Otolaryngology and Facial plastic surgery. FLORIAN’S PHILOSOPHY My philosophy is that, if I listen and truly understand my patient’s wishes, and we can develop a bespoke and holistic plan based on realistic expectations, then we have a high chance of that patient being satisfied with their treatment, Whether their concern is the shape or size of their nose, breathing problems, snoring, or dislike of certain facial features, they can be assured that I will listen to and address specific concerns, and employ the most advanced skills and techniques available. If they are seeking a rhinoplasty, the initial consultation process allows me to understand any likes and dislikes about their nose, and whether there are any concerns regarding the function of the nose. Following a thorough examination, I offer image manipulation to help guide decision-making and creation of a personalised, realistic plan to achieve a natural-looking result without the obvious trademarks of surgery.
