CEO Today Healthcare Awards

www.ceotodaymagazine.com CEO Today Healthcare Awards 2019 21 USA The Science of InCelligence is a cutting-edge technology added to USANA’s supplement formulation that unlocks your cell’s full potential and activates your body’s natural ability to protect and renew itself. InCelligence allows your body to better respond to your unique health needs. On the success of its InCelligence Technology, USANA launched its brand new skincare line, Celavive in early 2018. Celavive takes beauty down to a science and integrates ingredients from the InCelligence technology that respond uniquely to each individual, working to visibly counteract stress aging like fine lines and wrinkles by targeting key skin receptors for dramatically younger-looking skin. With the launch of InCelligence came one of USANA biggest achievements under Kevin Guest, reaching the $1 billion sales record for the first time in company history in 2016. Most companies can only dream of reaching $1 billion dollars in sales, and reaching that mark after being in business for only 24 years was a massive accomplishment for USANA. The company recently reported its sixteenth consecutive year of record sales and earnings. Net sales for 2018 increased by an unbelievable 13.6 percent to a record $1.189 billion—2018 is the third consecutive year USANA has eclipsed the billion-dollar mark. Kevin Guest’s vision for USANA has always been about innovation and avoiding irrelevance. He knows that irrelevance is the death of a company, which has led to USANA laying the groundwork for major changes to the company’s look and product line to sustain its relevance for today and the future. Because he is a member of USANA’s board of directors, Kevin is in a unique position to ensure USANA stays on the right path with his vision in both the short term and the long term. Kevin has been instrumental in USANA’s shift in marketing strategy and has made it a priority to enhance and modernize the company’s employee policies and benefits. Kevin has already overseen the redesign of USANA’s home website, bringing it to modern times and making it easier for customers to buy product and to enroll as an independent sales Associate. The numbers already validate Kevin’s quest for sustained relevance. The update to the website, the launch of new product lines like InCelligence and the Celavive skincare system, and new marketing and IT initiatives have led to both record profits and stock prices for USANA. The company’s outlook has never been brighter and it’s all thanks to short and long term plans Kevin has laid out. Every good CEO can generate record profits and bolster a company’s stock price, but not every CEO operates like Kevin Guest. Profits and corporate success are, of course, top goals for Guest, but employee wellness and charity are just as important. During his tenure, Kevin has continued to make sure USANAemployees can count on a fun, open and community-focused workplace, managed by a management team that is committed to acting on employees’ ideas and concerns. Along with a new generous PTO and maternity/paternity leave policy, USANA also offers impressive benefits, including free onsite workout facilities, a generous annual profit-sharing program, free company products, and excellent health and life insurance packages. For these reasons and many more, USANA has repeatedly been named one of Utah’s Best Companies to Work For by Utah Business magazine and one of America’s Best Companies to Work For by Outside Magazine, six consecutive years. USANA has also been commended with the Work/Life Award from the Utah Department of Workforce Services and the Office of Work & Family Life. In 2016, USANA was also named by Utah Business magazine as one of Utah’s healthiest companies. On top of all this, Kevin has recently published his own book titled, All the Right Reasons. All the Right Reasons tells the story of Kevin’s life from playing music, to being a rock n’ roll journalist, to his LDS mission in the Netherlands; all leading up to his current position at USANA. The book provides Kevin’s 12 principles for living a life in harmony, sharing his knowledge and experiences with the world. While any CEO can write a book, you won’t find many willing to forego profits in the name of charity. Kevin was never in it for the money, he just wanted to share his life story and principles, which is why he decided to donate all book proceeds to a cause near and dear to his heart, feeding children. The money will specifically go to children in Thailand who are at risk of human trafficking and every book sold will provide 40 meals to those children. Kevin has also been heavily involved with USANA’s charity, The USANA Foundation. USANA believes in bringing their vision of true health and wealth to people in need by donating time and money to help build a better and healthier world. Employees and executives have dedicated their time by boxing food and nutritionals to send overseas and by taking humanitarian missions to teach, hand out supplements, and to provide aid to the less fortunate. Kevin is a unique CEO that has proven that creating a family environment at work can generate incredible results, and his approach to running USANA is an example to the industry of how to not only innovate in R&D and marketing, but human resources and employee relations as well.
